What causes Acne?
The causes of acne may vary from person and age. The most common and noticed causes are listed below:
- Rise of testosterone hormone during puberty
- Mixing of sebum with dead cells in the skin
- Some specific medications like lithium & corticosteroids
- Transfer of hormones from mother to child
- Medical conditions like Cushing’s syndrome & polycystic ivory syndrome
- Increased oil production, bacteria, clogged skin pores & dead skin cells
- Periods & pregnancy in women
Symptoms of Acne
It occurs on the face, neck, shoulders, chest and back. There are various kinds of acne having different symptoms. Some of these are:
- Closed pores called whiteheads
- Open pores called blackheads
- Pimples filled with pus at tips
- Red, tender & small papules
- Cystic lesions forming painful lumps filled with pus
Acne is a skin condition which is not contagious or infectious. It needs proper maintenance of your skin to avoid severe symptoms.
