Before your HIFU appointment, refrain from using retinoids, exfoliants, or strong skincare products for at least a week. Protect your skin from excessive sun exposure to reduce the risk of pigmentation changes. Inform your aesthetic practitioner about any medications you are taking, especially blood thinners or those affecting skin healing. Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your treatment. Limit alcohol consumption for at least 24 hours before your appointment, as it can increase skin sensitivity, and if the treatment area includes facial hair, consider shaving it off before your appointment to ensure better results.
During your HIFU treatment, the area to be treated will be cleansed to remove any makeup or impurities. A topical numbing cream may be applied to minimise discomfort during the procedure. The HIFU device will deliver focused ultrasound energy to the skin, during which you may feel a slight warming sensation. The procedure typically lasts between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on the area treated.
Your skin may be a little pink, but the downtime is minimal, usually subsiding within a few hours to days. Once your first HIFU treatment is completed, we will ask you to book your second treatment immediately. The results of the treatment can take up to 90 days to fully develop, so the full HIFU effects will only be visible after this period. During the procedure, you might experience a sensation of warmth or slight discomfort, but nothing too extreme. Afterward, you may notice some redness, but this usually fades within a few hours. Full HIFU effects will become visible approximately 3 months after treatment.
A HIFU treatment typically requires two sessions spaced 4 weeks apart. Results may be noticeable after the initial treatment, but the full effects, including before and after improvements, will become visible within 90 days and continue to enhance as the body stimulates additional collagen production. Most patients request treatment for only the jawline, as it is one of the first areas to show signs of ageing. However, we believe that treating the entire face yields better and longer-lasting results. You will still see improvements by treating only the jawline, but the effects may not be as pronounced, as the muscles above are left untreated.
