Dermal Fillers For Cheeks

Cheek fillers are a popular aesthetic treatment specifically designed to enhance the volume and shape of your cheeks. Using specialised injectables, these dermal fillers help restore youthful contours, improve facial symmetry, and add volume to the cheekbone area, giving your cheeks a natural, lifted look.

We use two methods to enhance this area: traditional needle and cannula techniques. The cannula method is used to minimise bruising and improve client comfort during the treatment. The upper face plays a significant role in maintaining a youthful appearance for longer.

Are Cheek Fillers For You?

As we age, our bodies change. It starts to lose its natural ability to uphold that youthful appearance. Our faces are no different. We start to lose facial volume, especially our cheeks. This loss of volume tends to make our faces appear more hollow or sunken.

So, if you want to restore that lost volume, or enhance your facial appearance for another reason, cheek fillers can help. Some individuals even use dermal cheek fillers to help emphasise the natural contours of their face, by giving it a more defined or sculpted look. Not to mention, those who have experienced significant weight loss may also use cheek fillers to restore lost facial volume.

Last but not least, the treatment can provide a lifting effect, helping to reduce the appearance of sagging or drooping in the mid-face area too. Do not hesitate to consult with one of our qualified professionals is to discuss your aesthetic goals and to help ensure the treatment meets all your needs and expectations.

The Procedure

One of our aesthetic practitioners will perform a pre-assessment to discuss your goals, medical history, and suitability for cheek fillers. We will cover the dos and don’ts and, most importantly, discuss the risks and potential complications of dermal fillers. Refrain from taking blood-thinning medications (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen) or supplements (e.g., fish oil) at least a week before your appointment to minimise bruising. Also, avoid alcohol for 24 – 48 hours before the procedure to reduce the risk of bruising.

Cheek filler is performed using the appropriate dermal filler for the specific issues with your cheeks. Some may need volume, some lifting, and some both lifting and volume. Once the correct product has been chosen, a local anaesthetic cream may be applied if needed to help minimise any discomfort. The procedure is then carried out using precise injections to create the desired look and typically takes about 30 – 45 minutes.

Expect some swelling and bruising, which typically subsides within a week. Avoid hot environments, such as saunas or intense exercise, for 24 – 48 hours. Please do not touch or rub the nose area after the procedure. Avoid wearing make-up on the treated area for 24 hours. Drink plenty of water to help your skin recover, and attend any recommended follow-up appointments to assess results and address any concerns.

Dermal cheek filler is administered using injections in the specified treatment area. There may be slight discomfort, but it should not be too intrusive. A numbing cream can be applied if patients are sensitive. The skin in the treated area may be slightly red after the treatment, and some mild bruising may occur. The treatment usually takes 30 – 45 minutes.

FAQs

How many syringes do I need?

The number of syringes needed to achieve desirable results varies from patient to patient. We always recommend what we believe to be the safest option for you as an individual. We prefer to build up the area in stages to ensure a safer and more long-lasting effect.

During the consultation, we will thoroughly discuss your individual needs and preferences to determine the most suitable product for your skin type and facial anatomy. Our practice uses a range of high-quality products, including Juvéderm, Vivacy Stylage, PPP Plasma Filler, and Sky Med. Each of these brands offers unique formulations designed to enhance and rejuvenate your appearance.

We will discuss the possible results and what can be achieved based on your facial anatomy. The treatment will be explained step by step. We will never overfill the area, and we will show you the progress of the enhancement throughout the procedure.

When administered by one of our experienced specialists, cheek fillers are designed to blend seamlessly with your natural facial contours. Meaning, your cheeks will never look “overdone”.

Since dermal fillers are temporary, you may need touch-ups to help maintain your desired look. The frequency of those touch-ups will depend on how long your filler lasts and your personal preferences.

Cheek fillers work by replenishing lost volume and sculpting the contours of the cheeks. This is achieved through the injection of a gel-like substance beneath the skin, which is specifically designed to mimic the natural consistency of the skin’s underlying tissues.
