Discontinue use of any retinoids or strong exfoliants at least a week before your treatment. Drink plenty of water and maintain good hydration to help your skin respond better to the treatment. Inform your practitioner about any medications or supplements you are taking. Avoid blood-thinning medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen unless prescribed by your doctor. Refrain from consuming alcohol for 24 – 48 hours before the procedure, as it can thin the blood and affect healing. A consultation will determine if you are a good candidate for this treatment. A topical anaesthetic will be applied to numb the area and minimise discomfort. For PRP, a small amount of your blood will be drawn and processed to concentrate the platelets. For PRF, the process is similar but involves a different preparation method. The PRP or PRF is then applied to the skin, and a microneedling device is used to create micro-injuries in the skin to enhance absorption and stimulate collagen production. The entire procedure typically takes around 90 minutes, depending on the treatment area and individual needs.
Your senior practitioner will apply any leftover PRP/PRF to your face as a serum, and an SPF 50 will be applied before you leave. The treatment usually involves 2 – 5 days of downtime. We do not perform this treatment on the same day or in conjunction with Botox and dermal fillers. This ensures you enjoy optimal PRP/PRF results and avoid potential complications. However, you are welcome to schedule injectable treatments, such as Botox and dermal fillers roughly 7 – 10 days after this procedure.
It is essential to avoid direct sunlight for about 2 weeks before and after your procedure. This is because sun exposure can be extremely damaging during the healing process. It can lead to skin pigmentation issues and other forms of skin damage. Please apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen when outdoors. Remember to reapply it regularly.
