Can You Have Anti-Wrinkle Injectables in Summer?

Anti-wrinkle injection treatment results

Whether you live in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere, or summer arrives in June or December, the question remains the same: Is it safe to get non-surgical wrinkle treatments during warmer months?

After all, the extra heat, sun exposure, and UV rays can often increase the risk of skin damage after certain aesthetic treatments like deep chemical peels or laser skin resurfacing. So if you have been advised to avoid the sun after one of these procedures, it’s natural to wonder whether the same applies to anti-wrinkle injections.

And to save you the sweat (pun intended), here is the good news: Non-surgical wrinkle treatments can be safely done year-round. But let us take a closer look at why summer per se isn’t a problem, along with the potential risks.

Why May Be Trickier In Summer

Because non-surgical wrinkle treatments are injected into the skin, outside temperature doesn’t affect how they work after the first 48 hours. The key focus is the period immediately following your appointment, when the product is still working its way into the treated area.

So the treatment isn’t the problem. Summer temptation is. Warm weather, sunny skies, and the excitement of getting outdoors can make it harder to stick to the aftercare needed to ensure the product settles properly during those all-important first two days.

Because your body naturally maintains a stable internal temperature of around 37°C regardless of the weather outside, your core body temperature can still rise. Strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, or excessive heat exposure can increase your internal body temperature, boost blood flow, and thus potentially cause the product to move before it has fully settled. This is why we always advise avoiding these activities after treatment, whether it is summer, autumn, winter, or spring.

Another well-adorned summer activity is swimming. Of course, swimming itself will not damage the treatment once the initial aftercare period has passed. However, during those initial 48 hours, it is best to avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, and vigorous swimming, as it requires physical activity. And physical activity is a no-no immediately after getting injected. Once the recommended aftercare period has passed, you can return to enjoying the pool, sea, or water park as normal (and stress-free).

Of course, summer = sunbathing. So, what about it? Naturally, immediately after your appointment, your skin may be slightly sensitive, particularly around the injection sites. Thus, exposing those treated areas to direct sunlight too soon could aggravate this temporary sensitivity. As a result, mild redness or irritation that would normally disappear within a few hours may linger for much longer. Also, avoid lying flat for around 4 hours after treatment. This means saving the afternoon sunbathing (tempting as it may be on a beautiful summer’s day) for another occasion.

It is only natural that one will sweat more on a 26°C day than on a -7°C one. Therefore, you may be overjoyed to know that perspiration does not “wash out” non-surgical wrinkle treatments or make it less effective. Once the product is injected into the targeted muscles, it stays beneath the skin and cannot be removed by a little moisture loss.

So, let us summarise. You can safely get non-surgical wrinkle treatments year-round. The season itself does not affect your results. Instead, what matters most is how you care for the treated area during the first 48 hours after your appointment. During this time, avoid activities that may increase blood circulation or raise the risk of discomfort, swelling, or bruising.

Why Summer Could Actually Be A Great Time For Non-surgical Wrinkle Treatments

For many people, summer is a season filled with holidays, weddings, family gatherings, and social events. Naturally, looking refreshed and feeling fabulous in your skin for these special occasions can be a valid reason for a welcome aesthetic boost.

Set aside 48 hours, and schedule your Non-surgical wrinkle treatment a week or two before your holiday or event to let the results develop beautifully. While you may start noticing improvements within a few days, the full effects typically appear after 10 to 14 days, helping you look rested and rejuvenated just in time for your summer plans.

Non-surgical wrinkle treatments also pair well with dermal fillers, skin boosters, and medical-grade skincare. This allows you to create a personalised rejuvenation plan for a radiant, summer-ready glow.

If you use non-surgical wrinkle treatments as a preventative measure to slow the formation of deeper expression lines, there is no reason to pause your treatments simply because it is summer. In fact, maintaining your regular treatment schedule helps deliver consistent, long-lasting results. Because excessive UV exposure is a leading cause of premature skin ageing, it is equally important to protect your investment by applying a generous amount of broad-spectrum sunscreen every day.

Non-surgical wrinkle treatments during Summer

Can you have anti-wrinkle treatments in the summer? Yes, you absolutely can.

Summer is just as suitable as any other season for non-surgical wrinkle treatments, as long as you follow the recommended aftercare instructions.

Whether you are preparing for a beach holiday, attending a summer wedding, or simply want a more youthful, refreshed look, the non-surgical wrinkle treatment remains a safe, effective, and popular treatment year-round.
