Non-Surgical Jawline Contouring

Masseter reduction is a non-surgical treatment designed to relax and gradually reduce the size of the masseter muscle—the primary muscle responsible for chewing.

By precisely targeting the masseter muscle with face-slimming injections, this treatment helps create a more refined, contoured jawline while also alleviating symptoms associated with teeth grinding (bruxism) and jaw clenching.

As the muscle activity decreases, the lower face appears softer and more balanced, delivering both aesthetic improvement and functional relief. This makes it an effective option for patients seeking jawline slimming, along with reduced muscle tension and discomfort.

Located at 22 Bloomsbury St, London, appointments are available Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Jaw Muscles Explained

The masseter muscles sit on each side of the jaw and play an essential role in chewing and speaking.

In some individuals, the masseter muscle becomes enlarged due to factors such as stress, clenching, or teeth grinding. This can result in a wider or more square jawline, as well as symptoms including jaw tension, discomfort, and headaches.

Masseter reduction works by carefully relaxing the masseter muscle, allowing it to shrink over time. This leads to a softer, more contoured lower face and supports effective jawline slimming.

The Procedure

During your consultation, one of our specialists will examine your facial structure and muscle tone to determine whether the masseter treatment is the right option for you. We will also discuss your medical history, including any jaw problems or teeth grinding (bruxism).

On the day of your appointment:

  • Avoid chewing gum or eating tough foods (these can irritate the jaw muscles)
  • Avoid alcohol and blood‑thinning medications (ibuprofen, aspirin) for 24 hours before treatment to reduce bruising

The procedure is quick, usually taking around 15 to 30 minutes. One of our specialists will administer the treatment to your masseter muscles on the sides of your jaw. Most patients only feel a slight pinch or mild discomfort. If you are worried about pain, we can apply a numbing cream.

After your jawline slimming treatment, you might notice mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection sites. These side effects usually disappear within a few days.

Do’s & Don’ts for 24 hours after treatment:

  • Do not massage or put pressure on the treated area
  • Do not lie down flat for 4 hours
  • Do not do strenuous exercise
  • Do not drink alcohol or take NSAIDs (ibuprofen, aspirin)
  • Do apply a cold compress gently if needed

There is minimal downtime, and most patients can return to normal activities the same day.

Initial changes in the masseter muscle may be noticed within 1–2 weeks. Visible jawline slimming typically develops gradually over 4–6 weeks as the muscle shrinks.

Results generally last between 3 and 6 months, with maintenance treatments recommended to sustain the effect.
